Feb. 9, 2016 HARRISBURG – Public Works crews are preparing for potentially icy roads as a cold front is expected to follow the 3-6 inches of snow that will fall in the City through Wednesday.
“Our crews are out doing a great job salting the primary roads and secondary streets,” said Mayor Eric Papenfuse, “but they are also mindful that the coming cold front could bring icy roads on Thursday and Friday.”
Not enough snow had fallen by Tuesday afternoon to use snow plows. But workers spent much of Tuesday salting major streets and secondary roads as well as alleyways to ensure trash can be collected. The salt also should help deal with the icy conditions expected after the snow.
The City is divided into eight regions to tackle the snow, and two trucks are assigned to each area.
