HARRISBURG – The City of Harrisburg is prepared for the anticipated snowstorm, and residents are advised to pay close attention to weather updates.

By special arrangement with Park Harrisburg, residents can park without charge at the Locust Street Garage, located at 214 Locust Street, beginning tonight at 6 p.m., and all day Thursday.

“We appreciate Park Harrisburg for once again providing free parking at the Locust Street Garage during this storm,” said Mayor Eric Papenfuse.

City of Harrisburg Parking Enforcement will NOT be enforcing for street sweeping on Thursday. However, City residents are still encouraged to take advantage of parking in the Locust Street Garage to assist plowing efforts. Please note that other parking enforcement, including that by Park Harrisburg, will continue as needed. More information on Park Harrisburg enforcement areas can be found at parkharrisburg.com

The Public Works Department has 16 trucks prepared to keep primary and secondary roads clear throughout the City. Salting the roads is planned to begin concurrent with the start of the snowfall.

Mayor Eric Papenfuse is advising residents to avoid driving if road conditions become hazardous.

Updates will be posted on the City’s Twitter page: twitter.com/thecityofhbg.
