HARRISBURG – Harrisburg City residents should put discarded Christmas trees on the curb in front of their homes throughout the month of January when the city’s Department of Public Works will collect them during scheduled street cleaning days.
Christmas trees placed on curbs after Jan. 31 will be picked up during the scheduled trash collections for each area.
Each year, the city collects hundreds of discarded Christmas trees, which are recycled for alternative uses, according to City Public Works Director Aaron Johnson. There are no additional charges for collection of discarded Christmas trees in Harrisburg.
