Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, the traditional City of Harrisburg New Year’s Eve Celebration will be modified to a virtual celebration. Please see below for details on the virtual activities and explorehbg.com/NYE for a list of City NYE dining and takeout specials and more.

VIRTUAL COUNTDOWN

A virtual countdown to midnight will feature iconic City of Harrisburg locations and organizations followed by a fireworks compilation from previous years. There will also be photos, videos and messages from members of the community and businesses. The video will be available to watch on Channel 20 and the City of Harrisburg Facebook.

NYE DINING SPECIALS AND EVENTS IN THE CITY

Kick off the New Year by supporting local City businesses! Several businesses will be offering dining and takeout specials and other activities. Visit ExploreHBG.com/NYE for information on everything available (the site will be updated as details are received so check back frequently).

VIRTUAL COUNTDOWN TO KID-NIGHT

Have your own Countdown to Kid-Night Celebration at home! Community members were able to reserve a kit of supplies by December 14. If you were not able to reserve a kit, see the activities sheet below for instructions on how to make your own balloon drop, party hat and milk and cookies toast. A virtual balloon drop countdown featuring the Harrisburg Senators Mascot Rascal will be available to watch at a time convenient to you in the Facebook event and this webpage starting at 1pm on December 31. 

There were several unclaimed NYE kits that are now available for pick-up. Families can pick up a free NYE Activities Kit for Kids featuring a handcrafted balloon drop, DIY party hat template, cookies for a milk & cookies toast and more on December 31 from 8:30am-3:30pm inside the City Government Center at 10 N 2nd St, Harrisburg, PA 17101. Available while supplies last.

WATCH BALLOON DROP KIT INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO– if you picked up a kit from the City Government Center, you can skip a few steps and begin by hanging up your balloon drop. The tough parts have been completed for you in advance!
