I have an idea in regards to the bridge closure. Why couldn’t the city close Sycamore St entering Penndot to all incoming traffic and set up a detour and reroute all incoming traffic down the S. Front St ramp behind Race Street. Race St could be closed to local traffic only. This would eliminate the need for the installation of traffic signals and hopefully increase the flow of traffic. Thank you

    RE: Sycamore St bridge closure
I work at the Riverfront Office Center. Leaving work today, by the ONLY exit available, over the Sycamore St bridge, was a horrific undertaking. It was a full hour after leaving my office, that I was able to move my vehicle to get in line to leave the South parking lot. There are hundreds and hundreds of just employees leaving this area, beginning about 3 pm through 5 pm. ONE exit from this building for vehicles is unacceptable, especially during this construction for 12 weeks with only one lane open over the bridge!! The pubic visiting the PennDOT counters was also involved in this mess. Obviously, the logistics of the traffic volume was not thought out well, if at all. The City must do something to alleviate this bottleneck in the afternoons. Heaven help us if emergency vehicles need to arrive or depart from this location. Thank you.
