CITY OF HARRISBURG TO ANNOUNCE VISION ZERO ACTION PLAN AT MARCH 20 PRESS CONFERENCE 

March 18, 2019 HARRISBURG – Mayor Eric Papenfuse will hold a press conference at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20 at the MLK Government Center to announce the details of the Vision Zero Action Plan.

The City of Harrisburg kicked off Vision Zero in May of 2018 in response to serious crashes involving pedestrians as well as an overall goal of improving safety on City Streets. The program envisions zero pedestrian and bicycle fatalities by 2030.

Over the course of several months, City specific surveys and meetings were conducted and a task force was created to produce a comprehensive action plan with policy, program and road design recommendations to improve safety for all users of Harrisburg Streets.

Copies of the plan will be distributed at the press conference.

CITY OF HARRISBURG HOLDS PUBLIC MEETING ON 4TH AND DAUPHIN PLAYGROUND 

March 6, 2019 HARRISBURG – The City of Harrisburg will hold a public meeting from 6-7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 7, at Heinz Menaker Senior Center, 1824 North 4th Street  on the updates of 4th and Dauphin Playground.

Representatives from the City of Harrisburg and Capital Region Water will provide an overview of new park features coming in 2019. The meeting will allow Harrisburg residents to give input on the park renovations.

SORORITY TO HONOR HARRISBURG POLICE COMMISSIONER THOMAS C. CARTER

HARRISBURG, PA – Harrisburg Police Commissioner Thomas C. Carter will be honored with the “Men of Rhoyalty award from  Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc, Kappa Omicron Sigma Chapter, during ceremonies at 1 p.m. Sunday, March, 10 2019  at the Red Lion Hotel – Harrisburg East, 4751 Lindle Road, Harrisburg.

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. is a leading non-profit, community service organization whose mission is to enhance the quality of life within the community.

The “Men of Rhoyalty” award  honors seven men in the community who contribute and make sacrifices on behalf of their families, friends and communities.
