The Honorable Mayor Eric Papenfuse and Comcast will welcome C-SPAN to Harrisburg on Tuesday, October 18 at 11:00 am ET at City Hall Atrium as they kick off a visit to record the history and non-fiction literary life of the city on the cable network’s non-fiction book channel BookTV (on C-SPAN2) and history channel American History TV (on C-SPAN3).

“We welcome C-SPAN to Harrisburg and look forward to having our city’s rich history and culture promoted throughout the nation. This is truly a chance for Harrisburg to shine and for millions of people to learn about the importance of Pennsylvania’s capital in the history of this great nation,” Mayor Papenfuse said.

In conjunction with its Comcast cable partners, C-SPAN producers will reveal the stories and segments that will be explored by the national network. During their time in Harrisburg, C-SPAN producers will visit various literary and historic sites, interview local historians, non-fiction authors and conduct education and community outreach in the area.

Local segments recorded during the week of Oct 17-20 will air on BookTV (C-SPAN2, Comcast channel 104) and American History TV (C-SPAN3, Comcast channel 105) throughout C-SPAN’s special Harrisburg weekend, January 21-22.

C-SPAN’s 2016 Cities Tour takes Book TV and American History TV on the road. C-SPAN2 (BookTV) and C-SPAN3 (American History TV) are featuring the literary life and history of each of these selected cities during special weekends on the public affairs network.
