HARRISBURG –   City Treasurer Tyrell Spradley announced Monday afternoon he will resign his elected position effective Friday, after serving 16 months in the post.

Spradley was appointed treasurer in November 2014 to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of John Campbell. Spradley won election to the post in May 2015.

“It is with great gratitude, and a little bit of sorrow, that I resign as City Treasurer of Harrisburg, effective May 20, 2016,” Spradley wrote in a letter addressed to the President of the City Council.  The letter also was emailed to Mayor Eric Papenfuse and city officials.

“I am especially honored to have led the dedicated staff of the Treasurer’s Department during my tenure,” Spradley wrote.

In his resignation letter, Spradley said he will go on to other opportunities to serve the public.spradley
