In a unique partnership between Tri-County Housing Development Corporation (TCHDC) and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Harrisburg, more than 120 young people will take part in a massive, weeklong building blitz in the city of Harrisburg.

According to Gary Lenker, TCHDC Executive Director, the army of teen volunteers, on a faith-based mission trip from the Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, based in Severna Park, Maryland, will build three houses in seven days. A second group of college students from the same organization will then swoop in to add the finishing touches to the homes, which are part of TCHDC’s Mount Pleasant neighborhood.

Donations for the build have been received from the Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Harrisburg, the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA), and Erie Insurance.

The four-bedroom, 1,600-feet homes will be sold to three low- to moderate-income families.

Also invited to the kick-off are Harrisburg Mayor Eric Papenfuse; Dauphin County Commissioners Jeff Haste, Mike Pries, and George Hartwick, III; Sen. John DiSanto; and Rep. Patty Kim.
