Come and learn all about Thomas Elder, a former owner of the John Harris-Simon Cameron Mansion, from Elder expert and reenactor Howard Parker.

Thomas Elder (1767-1853) was an attorney, entrepreneur, behind the scenes politician, and president of both the Harrisburg Bank and the Harrisburg Bridge Company. He served as Pennsylvania Attorney General from 1820 until 1823. He bought the Mansion from Robert Harris in 1835 and resided here until his death. He was, especially in his spearheading the efforts the build the Harrisburg Bridge (the first bridge to cross the Susquehanna River), a major contributor to the development of Harrisburg.

Admission to the program is by donation. Admission is included if you take a tour of the Mansion at 1:00pm. Sunday tours are reduced to $5 per person. Historical Society members are admitted free.
