from City of Harrisburg
Chief Thomas C. Carter and Harrisburg Police will hold a press conference at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the atrium of the MLK Government Center, 10 N. 2nd St., to announce the success of efforts to remove illegal guns from city streets.
“We applaud the efforts of Harrisburg Police to make our streets safer,” said Mayor Eric Papenfuse, who will attend the press conference. “Their good work is paying off with an almost 30 percent decrease in crime in the City of Harrisburg since 2013.”
“There’s no doubt we’re succeeding in fighting crime in our city,” said Chief Carter. “This is an opportunity to show the public the kinds of weapons we’re taking off of our streets and to reassure our citizens that public safety is our top priority.”
Harrisburg Police will provide a display of weapons recently confiscated in arrests in the City of Harrisburg and provide additional information on the city’s efforts to fight crime.
