Dauphin County government offers a variety of full-time and part-time employment opportunities. Postings of current job openings throughout the County are available by selecting one of the categories listed below that most meets your needs.
Any persons wishing consideration for a posted position should submit a Dauphin County Application for Employment to the Dauphin County Department of Human Resources. Please specify the job title, department and requisition number of the posted position you are applying for as listed under Full-Time Positions or Part-Time Positions. Please submit a separate application for each position for which you are applying. Resumes may supplement an application but cannot be substituted for one and will be returned if not accompanied by an employment application. Applications for non-posted positions will be given no employment consideration and will not be retained.
Dauphin County transitioned from the Pennsylvania State Civil Service Commission hiring system to a Merit-Based Hiring System for employees of its human services departments, effective April 24, 2014. Under the new system, the County will be responsible for all aspects of the hiring process including recruitment of internal and external candidates for vacant or new positions, screening of applicants to ensure they meet the minimum education and training requirements for a particular position, administration of assessments, and interviewing of candidates. In an effort to provide a prompt and efficient procedure for fair and equitable resolution of areas of conflict regarding the Merit-Based Hiring System, Dauphin County has put in place an Alternative Dispute Resolution Policy/Procedure.
Included with the employment application set are voluntary self-identification forms which gather information on applicants’ gender and race and provide applicants the opportunity to self-identify as persons with a disability or a protected veteran status. These voluntary self-identification forms are used for government compliance purposes regarding equal employment opportunity and affirmative action and are not part of the employment application nor will the information be shared with persons responsible for hiring.
The Application for Employment set and voluntary self-identification forms may be e-mailed, hand delivered, faxed or mailed to Dauphin County Department of Human Resources. Please note: when e-mailing your application, as with all forms of submission, the application and authorization for pursuit of confidential information form must be signed (by hand or electronically). If you do not have Adobe Writer software, your changes will not be saved (i.e., the information you type on the application and forms) and you will need to print, scan and attach the PDF document in order to submit your application electronically.
