Mayor Eric Papenfuse will announce the names of the swans that will spend the summer in Italian Lake at a press conference at 1 p.m. Friday on the bridge in the lake.

“I thank all of the people who have sent in so many great choices for names,” said Mayor Papenfuse. “It’s clear Harrisburg residents are creative and enjoy humor.”

Mayor Papenfuse has gathered suggestions from a variety of sources, including from phone calls to the City’s 311 operator, social media postings and at public meetings.

The two pairs of swans are being rented and will spend the summer in Harrisburg, thanks to support from Friends of Italian Lake.

“Once again, we sincerely thank this group of civic-minded residents who will undertake the care and oversight of the swans,” Mayor Papenfuse said.
