HARRISBURG – Mayor Eric Papenfuse will announce the appointment of Paul Wambach as interim treasurer for the City of Harrisburg at a press conference today at 2 p.m. in the atrium of the MLK Government Center, 10 N. Second St.
Wambach spent more than 20 years as treasurer for the city, retiring in December 2012. Mayor Papenfuse is appointing Wambach by Executive Order following allegations of theft against City Treasurer John Campbell.
“Paul Wambach is highly respected for his integrity and dedication to the city,” Mayor Papenfuse said. “We thank him for stepping up to serve at this important moment.”
Mayor Papenfuse has asked city auditors Maher Duessel and City Controller Charles DuBrunner to increase their scrutiny of the city’s accounts to ensure there are no improprieties.
