Mayor Eric Papenfuse received a check Friday for $22,000 from organizers of the June “Glow Run” to raise money for street lighting repairs on Front Street. Historic Harrisburg Association and Lighten Up Harrisburg led the fundraising effort to replace missing light poles on Front Street. At the press conference held outside the Dixon Center in the area of four missing light poles, the Mayor also announced that the city is now seeking bids from companies interested in managing the conversion to LED street lighting.
On Monday, City Public Works crews will begin replacing the 22 missing poles along Front Street and expect to complete the project in 2-3 weeks, depending on the weather.
“This is a clear sign of the new, positive spirit that is truly lighting up Harrisburg,” the Mayor said. “We welcome more of these partnerships with civic organizations and businesses to speed our city’s recovery and stimulate growth.”
