MAYOR PAPENFUSE SHARES NATION’S SENSE OF LOSS AT DEATH OF POET MAYA ANGELOU

HARRISBURG – Mayor Eric Papenfuse said Wednesday he shares the nation’s deep sense of loss at the death of Maya Angelou, revered as one of the nation’s leading contemporary poets.

“Maya Angelou was a national treasure,” Mayor Papenfuse said. “Her works are deeply moving and inspiring and have touched millions of people around the world.  Her literary voice surely will be missed.”

Maya Angelou’s death was announced Wednesday. She was 86.
