Mayor Eric Papenfuse will hold a press conference at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 1, in atrium of the MLK Government Center, 10 N. Second St.,to announce the 2016 Holiday Parade that will be held on November 19, at 12 p.m. in Downtown Harrisburg.
This year’s parade theme is “Making the Season Bright”.
“This year’s parade will be an exciting event for the entire region,” said Mayor Papenfuse. “We are anticipating a large crowd to join us along the parade route for this year’s Holiday Parade.” The parade will include Marching Bands, musical acts, vintage and classic cars, and balloons. As well as, costume characters from Cinderella, Star Wars, and The Nutcracker.
“I would like to especially thank our title sponsor, Hershey Harrisburg Regional Visitors Bureau and our gold sponsor, PSECU. Without their support, we would not be able to put together this wonderful event,” Mayor Papenfuse said.
The Mayor will be joined by Shawn Baile from PSECU, to discuss free parking at the Market Square garage on parade day from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., which is being sponsored by PSECU. In addition to free parking in the garage, parade attendees can utilize the Pango App and get up to 4 hours of free street parking using the “LUVHBG” code.
Following the parade join Santa for hot chocolate in Strawberry Square, followed by the awards ceremony. Trophies will be awarded to the top Step and Drill Team Units, and cash prizes will be given to the top High School Marching Bands.
