Mayor Eric Papenfuse will greet theater-goers to the 23rd Free Shakespeare in the Park production of The Merry Wives of Windsor at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2016, at the Levitt Pavilion in Reservoir Park.

“Shakespeare in the Park is truly a cultural gem in Harrisburg, and I urge residents and visitors alike to come out and enjoy theater at its best,” said Mayor Papenfuse. “We are looking forward to a great summer season with Gamut’s Harrisburg Shakespeare Company.”

The Merry Wives of Windsor opened on June 3, 2016 at the Levitt Pavilion in Reservoir Park and will run through June 18, 2016 with performances Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m.

William Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor is a comedy featuring Sir John Falstaff.  Not everyone in the town loves him quite as much as he loves himself. Mistress Ford, Mistress Page, and the entire town of Windsor have a plan to humble the bawdy, carousing knight!

Audience members should bring their own chairs or blankets and come early to stake out a spot on the lawn. Performances are subject to the weather and any cancellations will be listed on and on local media stations.

Free Shakespeare in the Park has become a popular summer event in the Harrisburg area, and has regularly been named Reader’s Choice for Simply the Best Free Entertainment in Harrisburg Magazine. It is a great opportunity to catch a professional theater production for free  and is a fun outdoor activity for the whole family.
