MAYOR PAPENFUSE TO KICK OFF JULY 4TH CELEBRATION SATURDAY ON CITY ISLAND

HARRISBURG – Mayor Eric Papenfuse will welcome thousands of people to City Island at 10 a.m. Saturday to kick off Harrisburg’s July 4th Celebration featuring live music, food vendors, a kid’s village, an evening concert by the Harrisburg Symphony and a spectacular fireworks display.

Parking on City Island is FREE this year, or guests can park downtown free for four hours using the Pango code LUVHBG.

“We’ve got something for everyone this year,” said Mayor Eric Papenfuse.  “We thank Ollie’s Bargain Outlet, our Presenting Sponsor, for underwriting the cost of this year’s fireworks show.  We also want to recognize our event sponsors: the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency, Pinnacle Health, Comcast, the Downtown Improvement District, the City Island Vendors and Water Golf Inc. for their generous contributions.“

Musical groups will entertain throughout the day on the Live Music Stage, located beside the John Harris Trading Post. Food and product vendors will be set up along City Island and a kid’s village featuring balloon artists, face painting, caricaturists, and magic shows will take place at the Harbortown playground.

Festivities will end with a concert by the Harrisburg Symphony at 7:45pm at Metro Bank Stadium and fireworks are slated to begin a 9:15 p.m.  Please visit the Independence Day webpage at harrisburgpa.gov/july4th for scheduling and further details!
