MAYOR PAPENFUSE TO PARTICIPATE IN SHOOTING FOR PEACE PRESS CONFERENCE ON APRIL 4 AT HARRISBURG HIGH

Mayor Eric Papenfuse and Chief Thomas Carter will participate in a press conference at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Harrisburg High’s Evangelene Kimber Gymnasium to announce the Shooting4Peace celebrity basketball game that will be held April 22 in Harrisburg.

“I am looking forward to seeing these great athletes in Harrisburg to galvanize our community around stopping gun violence and promoting education as the best path for our youth,” said Mayor Eric Papenfuse. “I am urging everyone to get behind the Shooting4Peace program and come out to the game on April 22. We want an even bigger turnout that York!”

The game in Harrisburg is the second of two games being held in Central Pennsylvania. The first will be on April 21 in York. They are being organized by the Christian Men’s Business Connection, a group of Christian businessmen in York and Harrisburg, in collaboration with local churches and community organizations. The athletes also meet with students in school forums to promote more peaceful communities.

Similar events were held in Baltimore last year to unite the community around non-violence.
