HARRISBURG – Mayor Eric Papenfuse will join Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett, Pocono Raceway President and CEO Brandon Igdalsky and State Representative John Payne, co-chairman of the House Motorsports Caucus, to celebrate the state’s first official NASCAR Hauler Parade on Thursday.
The Mayor will welcome the big trucks as they file by during ceremonies at 11:30 a.m. Thursday outside the Pennsylvania State Capitol Building on Commonwealth Avenue.
“This is a wonderful boost for our city, and we welcome all of the racing fans who will line our streets to view these impressive trucks,” Mayor Papenfuse said. “We are pleased to have NASCAR and Pocono Raceway honor our city with this fantastic event.”
Racing fans will have the opportunity to see trucks from various NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams as they make their way to the Pocono 400, held June 6-8 in Long Pond, Pa. The event will begin with a general public viewing of the haulers at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex & Expo Center from 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m., followed by the press conference.
The parade will bring hundreds of racing fans to Harrisburg to get a close-up view of the haulers and to meet some of the drivers.
