Mayor Eric Papenfuse will participate in an interfaith “Iftar” dinner at 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Kunkel Plaza, at Front and State Streets, sponsored by the Turkish Cultural Center of Central Pennsylvania.
Muslims break their daily fast during the month of Ramadan with a community dinner called an “iftar.” The Turkish Cultural Center has invited the Mayor and the interfaith community in Harrisburg to share in an iftar dinner. Such dinners are usually held on Fridays, but the Turkish Cultural Center changed the day of their dinner to accommodate members of the Jewish faith community who observe the Sabbath on Friday evenings.
Members of the Mayor’s Interfaith Advisory Council and different faith communities in Harrisburg will speak at the event.
