Aug 28, 2014

HARRISBURG – Messiah College students participated in volunteer service to the City of Harrisburg recently as part of their “Into the Streets” freshman orientation.

More than 100 Messiah students assisted with preparations for the Kipona festival on City Island and more than 100 others will do clean-up and other service projects in Harrisburg neighborhoods.

“We thank the students of Messiah for their willingness to learn about the City of Harrisburg and its historic neighborhoods,” said Mayor Eric Papenfuse.  “It was hours well spent in service to the city.”

According to Chad Frey, director of Messiah College’s Agape Center, students are excited about the opportunity to learn about the capital city.
