Harrisburg, PA – The MLK Government Center, 10 N. Second St., will be closed Monday, Jan. 2, for the New Year’s Day holiday.
“Since New Year’s Day falls on Sunday, city employees receive the following day off,” said Mayor Eric Papenfuse. “The government center will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017.
Mayor Eric Papenfuse is encouraging visitors and residents to enjoy New Year’s Eve in Harrisburg by visiting the many restaurants and entertainment venues in the city.
DJ Jimmy Lawrence will provide music outside the MLK Government Center beginning at 9 p.m. Saturday, and at midnight the Hilton Harrisburg Hotel will drop the Giant Strawberry, followed by the City’s fireworks show.
“We invite everyone to enjoy the City this New Year’s Eve,” said Mayor Eric Papenfuse. “Come watch the Strawberry drop, but make the evening special by visiting one of our many fine restaurants.”
Parking on New Year’s Eve will be available at the Market Square Garage for $10 from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m.
This New Year Celebration is sponsored by the Hershey Harrisburg Regional Visitors Bureau, Harrisburg Downtown Improvement District, Hilton Harrisburg, and First National Bank.
