The City of Harrisburg will ring in the New Year with fireworks and a festive celebration at the MLK Government Center, 10 N. Second St., beginning at 9 p.m. Wednesday and ending at midnight with the dropping of the giant strawberry outside the Harrisburg Hilton Hotel.
“This New Year’s Eve will be a celebration to remember,” said Mayor Eric Papenfuse. “We will have activities for children in the atrium of City Hall, while several local music groups will entertain adults throughout the night.”
Children’s activities will include face painting, storytelling and performances from Gamut Theatre. Los Monstrous, Me & Us, singer Joy Christian and DJ WorieL will entertain the crowds on the stage just outside City Hall until the countdown to the New Year. The city also has organized a spectacular fireworks display to welcome the new year.
“We thank the companies and organizations that cooperated to ensure a great New Year’s Eve celebration,” Mayor Papenfuse said. “And we look forward to working together to ensure 2015 brings continued economic recovery and revitalization to our Capital City.”
The 2015 New Year Celebration is sponsored by the City of Harrisburg, Harrisburg Downtown Improvement District, GIANT Foods, WGAL, Universal Sound, and the Shops at Strawberry Square.
