MUSIC, THEATRE AND FIREWORKS TO RING IN NEW YEAR AT CITY HALL

Dec. 21, 2015 HARRISBURG – The City of Harrisburg will ring in the New Year with fireworks and a festive celebration at the MLK Government Center, 10 N. Second St., beginning at 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31 and ending at midnight with the dropping of the Giant Strawberry outside the Harrisburg Hilton Hotel.

Mayor Eric Papenfuse will count down the seconds to the Giant Strawberry drop, signaling the start of 2016.

“We’re looking forward to a great celebration with music and spectacular fireworks,” said Mayor Eric Papenfuse.  “ It will be a family affair with Gamut Theatre keeping kids warm and entertained inside City Hall.”

The Popcorn Hat Players will perform “Wonder Tales from Around the World” at 9 p.m. followed by the TMI Improv at 10 p.m.

The 2015 New Year Celebration is sponsored by the City of Harrisburg, Harrisburg Downtown Improvement District and the Hilton Hotel.

The New Year’s Eve celebration also will be aired live on WHBG Channel 20 and web streamed live at www.whbg.tv.
