The City of Harrisburg will conduct an Open House and Plans Display to inform the public and solicit feedback on the proposed multimodal transportation improvements in MulDer Square in the Allison Hill neighborhood at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, at the First Church of the Brethren, 219 Hummel St.
The purpose of the project is to improve livability, walkability, accessibility for all modes of transportation, increase property values, and spur economic development in the targeted redevelopment area known as MulDer Square. The project will include traffic calming measures, pedestrian and bicycle improvements, green stormwater infrastructure enhancements and other related improvements at the following locations:
- Creation of a neighborhood gateway and community plaza at the intersection of Mulberry Street and Derry Street
- Removal of Derry Street cul-de-sac and development of a multiuse path and linear park from the intersection of Derry Street and Sylvan Terrace to Cameron Street
- Conversion of Nectarine Street between Mulberry Street and Haehnlen Street into a green alley creating an inviting public space that is closed to motorized traffic
The purpose of this meeting is to provide the public an opportunity to review and comment on the proposed project. Representatives from the City of Harrisburg, its design consultants, and various project stakeholders will be available to answer questions and receive comments regarding the project. Anyone with knowledge of historic resources in the project area is encouraged to attend this meeting.
