Harrisburg’s First Ever Winter Street Festival Is Here!

Harrisburg is introducing on March 3 its first annual winter street festival — Ice & Fire! It will be the largest of its kind in the City!

There will be entertainment for everyone including giant inflatables for kids to slide on, a 70-foot ice skating rink in the middle of 2nd Street, fire dancers and MORE.

Did we mention, all of these things are free? Yup, you heard right — free skate rentals, no entry tickets for the bounce house or viewing ice sculptures. EVERYTHING is absolutely free!

In addition, there will be food trucks to fulfill any type of craving, live musical performances and a winter flea market.

Convinced yet? If not, the photos below should do the trick!

102nd Pennsylvania Farm Show

The Pennsylvania Farm Show is an annual agriculture show hosted at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex here in the City of Harrisburg. It is the largest indoor agriculture exposition featuring about 6,000 animals, 10,000 competitive exhibits and 300 commercial exhibits each year. The show provides the opportunity for people to see what Pennsylvania has to offer in the industry.

The Farm Show is usually held in the first or second week of January and lasts about 10 days. And as you will see from the photos, there is plenty to see and do. From petting farm animals to competitions to delicious food and famous milkshakes, there’s something for everyone!

In addition, this year, our very own Mayor Papenfuse participated in the “Fill a Glass with Hope” campaign hosted by the PA Dairymen’s Association by serving milkshakes. For every milkshake purchased, a dollar was donated to the cause.

New Year’s Eve Celebration 2018

Our New Year’s Eve celebration kicked off at 9 p.m. inside the MLK Government Center. There were two Free performances by the Gamut Theatre Group that were enjoyed by children and adults alike. The Popcorn Hat Players did a skit called “Little Red Riding Hood” which was geared more towards children but they did a fantastic job of keeping the adults entertained as well. Next up was the TMI Improve Troupe who were energetic and very funny.

Outside the MLK Government Center, a DJ played top hits. People danced and waited for the Giant Strawberry Drop.

Despite the freezing temperatures, hundreds came out and enjoyed the dazzling fireworks at the end.

If you missed out this year, make sure you join us for 2019!
