{HARRISBURG} – The long-awaited Broad Street Market restoration will begin imminently after City Council approved Alexander Building Construction Co. as the project’s construction manager Tuesday.
Alexander, a Harrisburg-based construction firm, brings to the project extensive experience with large-scale construction, historic architecture, and fire restoration. For these reasons, they scored highest on the independent scoring used to select a construction manager.
Alexander has also committed to 30% of its contractors and sub-contractors being minority, women, or disability business enterprises (MWDBE).
“Alexander [Building Construction Co.] has proven time and time again why they are uniquely qualified to oversee a project of the size and scope of restoring the Broad Street Market Brick Buillding to its original glory,” Mayor Williams said. “We are honored to have a company of their renown be based here in the City of Harrisburg. We are excited that they will have such an integral role in this important chapter in our city’s history.”
In addition to being hired for the Broad Street Market Brick Building restoration, Alexander was recently awarded the public contract to renovate FNB Field on City Island. They also have overseen major construction projects at Beaver Stadium, Chocolatetown at HersheyPark, and the Lancaster Medical Center.
