HARRISBURG – Business is booming in the City of Harrisburg, and there’s no better time than right now to learn more about how to get involved.

That is why the City of Harrisburg Department of Economic Development is teaming up with Harrisburg School District to host a  Contractor, Vendor, and Employment Resource Fair on Saturday, March 25, 2023, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Lincoln Administration Building, located at 1601 State Street.

“The City of Harrisburg is open for business, whether that’s on Main Street or in City Hall,” said Mayor Wanda R.D. Williams. “If we’re going to promote working in or for the City, then we need to have the resources available for anyone who wants to take part in what we’re building. I’m thrilled to partner with the Harrisburg School District to ensure anyone who wants to work here has that ability.”

This free business development and employment event will give businesses, including local, minority, and women-owned businesses, and individuals seeking employment, the opportunity to meet and network with business leaders, hiring professionals, and decision-makers from the Harrisburg School District and the City of Harrisburg.

Potential contractors, vendors, and suppliers will also engage with administrators from various departments and learn more about the procurement process.

“The Harrisburg School District is excited to welcome talented, qualified contractors and vendors, including local, minority, and women-owned entrepreneurs,” said Harrisburg Superintendent Eric Turman. “We are looking forward to strengthening our collaboration with the City of Harrisburg, so that together, we can create innovative partnerships that will benefit and support our diverse school community and city.”

Individuals seeking employment with the school district or the City of Harrisburg are strongly encouraged to attend the job fair on March 25th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Human Resources staff will be onsite to meet applicants, answer questions, and provide guidance on the application process for instructional and non-instructional positions. Spanish translation support will be available. Click here for event information and details.

“Our future sits in the classrooms of schools across the country. So, building a successful society must begin with investing in our youth,” said Jason Graves, City of Harrisburg Economic Development Director. “When a child is given the tools of life the possibilities are endless. The dream is real when you make it a reality, but the dream of becoming successful disappears when the investment isn’t present.”
