HARRISBURG – The City of Harrisburg is preparing for the anticipated snowstorm this Sunday and Monday, and residents are advised to pay close attention to news outlets for weather updates.

To prepare for the coming storm, by special arrangement with Park Harrisburg, residents can park without charge at the Locust Street Garage, located at 214 Locust Street, beginning Sunday, January 16 at noon through Monday, January 17 at 8 p.m.

“The city is grateful to Park Harrisburg for opening up the Locust Street Garage during this snowstorm to our residents,” said Mayor Wanda R.D. Williams.

City residents are strongly encouraged to take advantage of parking in the Locust Street Garage to assist plowing efforts. Additionally, all vehicles parked on roadways should park as close to the curb as possible and away from intersections to allow trucks easier access to plow street.

The Public Works Department has trucks prepared to keep primary and secondary roads clear throughout Harrisburg. Salting the roads is planned to begin concurrently with the start of the snowfall.

Mayor Wanda R.D. Williams is advising residents to avoid driving if road conditions become hazardous.
