HARRISBURG – Mayor Eric Papenfuse will hold a press conference at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 13th at the MLK City Government Center announcing Mr. Otto Banks as the new Director of Economic Development for the City of Harrisburg. Mr. Banks is a dynamic public servant who has worked to create economic opportunities and reduce poverty for millions of Americans.  He had served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Economic Development for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in which, Mr. Banks provided leadership to over 800 employees and managed a $14 billion portfolio.  

“In continuing my efforts to bring more cohesion to our fractured city, I welcome Otto Banks as the City’s new Director of Economic Development.” Mayor Papenfuse said. “His experience with managing budgets and his desire to increase opportunities in Harrisburg make him the right choice at this critical moment in our history.”  

“I am truly honored to work alongside Mayor Papenfuse and to serve the residents of Harrisburg.” Mr. Banks said. “I shall strive to restore our collective hopes and dreams of what Harrisburg can be, by rebuilding our neighborhoods, targeting resources, growing local businesses, securing jobs for our residents, and building a city and region where people want to come, stay, live and above all else prosper.”
