HARRISBURG – The City of Harrisburg will transform into a Hoops Heaven this summer, as the national Hoop It Up 3-on-3 tournament is back on City Island. You can take part in what is expected to be on the largest basketball tournaments in city history. All you need to do is get your crew and sign up.
Kevin Garnett’s Hoop It Up powered by 3×360 Sports is proudly partnering with the City of Harrisburg again this July, in conjunction with the Harrisburg Bureau of Police and its Community Services Division, to bring the Hoop it Up Harrisburg 3×3 Street Fest to City Island on Saturday, July 27th, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
There will be as many as 25 baskets set up on the City Island South Parking Lot, along with music, food vendors, and other entertainment. For the winning Pro-Am teams, up to $2000 in cash prizes will be handed out with the Pro-Am winner earning an automatic bid to the FIBA 3×3 sanctioned and 3×360 Sports supported Hoop It Up National Championship tournament held annually in November.
Who Can Play
Hoop It Up Harrisburg 3×3 Street Fest is open to boys, girls, men and women of various ages, all abilities, and from anywhere throughout the Capital Region.
Participating teams can have up to 5 players, although the Pro-Am bracket only allows for 4 players per team and tournament Divisions include: Under-8, U10, U12, U14, U16, U18, 19+, 31+, 45+, Under 6ft, and Media/Celebrity divisions, along with a FIBA 3×3-endorsed Men’s Pro-Am bracket.
What has always been an urban street game enjoyed by millions across generations, FIBA 3×3 (3-on-3) basketball is now considered the world’s number one urban team game and one of the top five fastest growing sports globally. FIBA 3×3 basketball will make its second appearance as an Olympic sport this summer during the Summer Olympic Games in Paris.
The Hoop It Up Harrisburg 3×3 Street Fest is being brought to City Island by Drew Dawson, a midstate native, Trinity High School graduate, the founder and current Managing Member for 3×360 Sports, a leading events and activation platform dedicated to the growth of FIBA 3×3 (3-on-3) basketball throughout the United States.
During its inaugural year, Hoop It Up Harrisburg had 65+ teams participate with several thousand others stopping by City Island to spectate and support the day’s festivities. Dawson hopes to build upon this in 2024.
“Although basketball and my career have taken me out of the area, I grew up here and Harrisburg will always be home to me,” Dawson said. “I have great memories and made life-long relationships participating in similar community events while growing up here. Getting back on City Island was key, and we envision this 3-on-3 event as having the same social footprint on the Capital Region as the legendary Gus Macker tournaments did for decades.”

This is a family-friendly event, open to all, Dawson said, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit a to-be-determined Harrisburg-based charity.
