About Us

The mission of the City of Harrisburg Bureau of Police is to protect and serve the public with honor, integrity, and professionalism. We work together in partnership with our citizens, community partners, and other law enforcement agencies to protect the City and ensure citizens feel safe.

The Bureau of Police operates 24-hours a day providing uniformed patrol, conducting criminal investigations, and dispatching for both Harrisburg Bureau of Police and Fire. Not only does the Bureau provide Emergency 911 service for Harrisburg City, but assists our surrounding communities as well.

As a State Accredited PLEAC law enforcement organization, Harrisburg City Police officers take pride in responding quickly and efficiently to the needs and expectations of the public. One of the Bureau’s main goals is to safeguard the constitutional rights of all citizens, including those prosecuted for crimes. Discrimination within the Harrisburg City Police and community is not tolerated.

Police Bureau employees are held to the highest standards, both on and off-duty. Through our on-going commitment to increasing professional standards, the Bureau is dedicated to reducing crime, recovering stolen property, maintaining public peace, and enforcing the safe use of public roadways. A high priority is also placed on protecting our children as they travel to and from school, as well as while they are on school grounds. Criminals and those who prey on the innocent will know and realize the consequences of their actions.

The ever-changing needs of our community and the 21^st century world demand that law enforcement adapt and change to adequately meet those needs. The City of Harrisburg Bureau of Police constantly seeks new and better methods for protecting our community, making it a safe place to live, work, and play for all.
