HARRISBURG — A first-of-its-kind documentary is airing right now on WHBG-TV 20.

The docuseries Becoming The Change follows five hopeful Harrisburg Police officers as they go through the six-month police academy at Temple University-Ambler Campus. The cadets — Nathan Carr, Tyler Glunt, Andrew Jones, Michael McDevitt, and Jakob Werner — are the focus of the documentary, which begins on the day they are sworn in as members of the Harrisburg Bureau of Police, and then immediately takes you to their first day at the academy.

Part 1 of the three-part docuseries focuses on the cadets’ first two months at Temple-Ambler.

“The goal is to give Harrisburg residents, and the public as a whole, a never-before-seen look into how their police officers are trained,” said City of Harrisburg Director of Communications Matt Maisel, who serves as executive producer on the project alongside Dan Hartman. “Temple’s police academy is challenging and demanding, and we want everyone to see that the Harrisburg officers who make it through are trained to be the best-of-the-best.”

The WHBG-TV crew of Asher Johnson and Emily Speck served as videographers and co-producers for the documentary. Part 2 will air Monday, March 13 and Part 3 is scheduled for Monday, March 20. Both at 7 p.m. You can also watch on the city’s WHBG-TV 20 YouTube channel.

Special thanks goes to Temple-Ambler and academy Director Chris Willard for allowing unfiltered access to cameras for the public to see a transparent look at police training.

WHBG-TV 20 is available to Comcast subscribers in the City of Harrisburg and surrounding municipalities. Check your local listings for availability.
