{HARRISBURG} — The City of Harrisburg took a major step forward on its rebuilding of the Broad Street Market brick building on Tuesday, with the release of our public solicitation for Construction Management Services.

The City is looking to hire a construction management firm to oversee the rebuild of the Broad Street Market brick building, which was partially destroyed in a fire July 10, 2023. The public can view the bid opportunity here.

After hiring a construction manager, the selected firm will have a hand in bringing in its own architect, who will be responsible for adhering to guidelines set forth by virtue of the Broad Street Market being on the National Registry of Historic Places. The selected firm will also provide pre-construction and construction management services for the project as detailed in the Scope of Services.

The City of Harrisburg’s Broad Street Market (“BSM”) is located on Verbeke Street between 3rd and 6th Street in Harrisburg, PA and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The BSM is made up of two buildings, the red brick building and the stone building. The red brick building was destroyed by a fire in July 2023. The City desires to reconstruct the red brick building. An Architect has yet to be selected for this Project. The City anticipates this will be a multi-year project. The City of Harrisburg’s Department of Facilities is seeking proposals from qualified professional firms to perform Construction Management services for the reconstruction of the historic Broad Street Market brick building. The selected firm will serve as Construction Manager and provide pre-construction and construction management services for the Project as detailed in the Scope of Services. The goal of this RFP is to provide the City of Harrisburg with a clear and compelling proposal to assure project delivery at a competitive price and a quality level of a highly experienced team.
