(HARRISBURG) – Harrisburg City Council plans to resume and complete its discussions and votes around the 2024 fiscal budget on Thursday, December 21. The continuation of the legislative session will start around 6 p.m.

Council met on Tuesday with the intention of going through a series of amendments to Mayor Wanda R.D. Williams’ 2024 budget and voting on final passage by the end of the night. However, as debate stretched past 10 p.m., Council decided to recess for the night, with plans to come back Thursday.

Mayor Williams presented Council with a $150.7 million budget on November 28. Harrisburg City Council held four public meetings of budget hearings in the following weeks, in which they met with directors for all city departments to ask questions about their budget proposals.

The City of Harrisburg’s 2024 budget must be passed by City Council and signed by Mayor Williams by December 31 at 11:59 p.m.
