Programs and events hosted by Parks and Recreation are funded by generous sponsorship and volunteer efforts.

This event enriches our Harrisburg neighborhoods by giving kids and their families a fun, safe space to celebrate the holiday learn something new, and enjoy their community. The Parks & Recreation programs and events strive to offer something for everyone. We offer different programs such as art, hip-hop, yoga, African dance, drumming, and more! We also offer annual events to celebrate holidays with activities for the whole family like crafts, food, lawn games, photo opportunities, raffles, live DJ, and more!

Annual Events

Easter Bunny Blast

Held the weekend before Easter from 11am -1pm at Sunshine Park.

Winter Wonderland

Held on the first Saturday in December from 10am – 1pm at the MLK Building.

Programs

Art in the Park

• For children or Seniors
• Seniors classes during the day
• Children’s classes during evenings
• Different art techniques with painting and drawing
• One-hour weekly sessions for eight weeks
• Taught by Art Association or local teachers

Extreme Hip Hop

• For adults
• Taught by local teachers/translators
• One-hour weekly sessions for eight weeks
• Step Aerobics for beginner and intermediate levels

African Dance or Drumming

• For 10+
• Taught by a local instructor
• One-hour weekly sessions for eight weeks
• Beginner-level dance and cultural history lessons

The City of Harrisburg Parks and Recreation programs rely on community partners to produce free community programs and events.
