HARRISBURG — The Capital City’s premiere celebration of music and business for Harrisburg’s communities of color returns August 10 and 11.

The Weekender is part entreprenurial summit, part music festival, all equaling out to two days of community building. The event kicks off Thursday, August 10 with a pair of “NetWorth Summits” held at Harrisburg University. These sessions will bring thought leaders to the City of Harrisburg to teach anyone looking to build their brand or start their own business tips about entreprenuership, education, and employment.

There are two sessions for people to choose from: A morning sessions from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and an evening sessions from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The festival culminates with a block party in the Hall Manor housing neighborhood. There will be five national and local hip-hop and R&B acts performing on stage: Tish Hyman, Dee-1, Flau’Jae, Jonny Bliss and Leah Jenea. The event is a free family-oriented event, and will have food, games, local educational vendors, giveaways, and even a zipline.
