On Monday, July 10, at around 1 a.m., a devastating fire ripped through the brick building of the Broad Street Market. No one was injured, though more than 20 vendors temporarily lost their businesses. Thanks to the heroic work of the Harrisburg Bureau of Fire, the fire was contained to the brick building, and did not spread to the stone building or other nearby businesses.

Later that afternoon, Mayor Williams joined Governor Josh Shapiro to tour the burnt down building. At a press conference following that tour, Mayor Williams vowed to rebuild the portion of the market lost in the fire. You can watch the video below.
